River Report

The Club’s Fishing & River Report July 22nd to 28th, 2019

We’ve had yet another great week at The Club. Our guests enjoyed their time both on and off the river. The fishing this week was more challenging due to our weather conditions. We had some really hot and humid days and the rain we were promised never came. Never the less our guests managed to land some great salmon!

Nice Catch Frank Gannett! The Salmon loved you this week!

One of The Club’s greatest assets is the fact that we have the opportunity to fish split days every day. The river is literally in our backyard – so close that our guests can be out on the water during its most productive fishing times. Our guests fish the mornings when the water is fresh and then in the evenings after the sun has passed its highest peak and hottest moments of the day.

A very happy Mike Barnaby with his guide Michel! What a great catch!

The Bonaventure river is flowing around 18-20 cubic meters per second which is perfectly normal for the end of July. The temperature of the Bonaventure River is remaining also in the norms of 50 degrees Celsius in the morning.

The most productive flies of the week have been very small wet flies and of course bombers. It’s the perfect time of year for dry fly fishing and the blue, green and brown bombers are producing! The wet flies that the salmon are most attracted to these days have been small (size 8-12) John Olin, Green Butts and Sliver Rat.

So much beauty in one simple picture.

It was so lovely meeting all our guests this week and I hope to see you again next season!

 Until next time,
