River Report

The Club’s Fishing & River Report July 8th to 14th, 2019

We had yet another wonderful week at the Club. It is always so nice to welcome returning guests. Paul Fingersh and Will Johnson have been guests in the past at our Sister Lodges – Camp Bonaventure and Salmon Lodge. They experienced The Club for the first time in 2018 and came back to our little neck of the woods with four great new friends to introduce us to.

Welcome Back Paul! What a wonderful way to start your week!

The weather man treated us with some nice summer weather this week. I’m certain the tourists of the Gaspésie on Summer vacation enjoyed the sun and heat but we would now like to put in our order of rain to keep our rivers healthy.

Great Catch by John Thacher!

The Bonaventure River is in great condition with water levels right where they normally are at this time of year. The River is running at approximately 20 cubic meters per second and remains in the fresh 50-degree Celsius range.

Congrats Steven Swartzman! What a beautiful 20 lbs catch!

Fishing on the Bonaventure has been great this season and we continue to land salmon every day. The most popular wet flies this week were once again the Stone Ghost, Blue Charm and Green Machine. Dry fly action has picked up and the dark green, blue and dark brown bombers seem to be what the salmon request!

Safe travels home everyone!
