River Report

The Club’s River & Fishing Report June 11th to 17th, 2018

Welcome to the Club’s first fishing and river report. Like we do each week for Camp Bonaventure and Salmon Lodge. The Club will now have a regular weekly report and weekly Photo Gallery.

The Club opens on June 10th, this to make sure we have fish holding in our pools when our first guests arrive. Spring was later than normal this year and we’re running almost two weeks behind. That being said, our river is wonderful condition and flowing cool and clear. Although not plentiful we do have salmon in most of our major pools. Our guides have seen fish in Deep water Ledge, Portage and Kelly. Our upper beat looks great, Gallagher looks very fishy as does Elenor and Double camp.

The Bonaventure is running Clear and flowing at 55 Cubic meters per second, just perfect for this time of the season. This month’s new moon was on the 13th and the full moon on the 27th.  Higher than normal tides during the moon phases always bring a run of salmon.

Adrien Overall from the UK hooked up to his first salmon from this side of the pond. Congratulations Adrien!

The first salmon of the season was caught on opening day at the tail of Deep Water ledge by Maryse Lanteigne . She hooked up after about ten casts with a Blue Charm. Needless to say, this was one of the hot fly’s this week. As the water warms up we’ll certainly be getting our dry fly’s.

Vincente Martinez from Spain was excited for his first attempt at Atlantic salmon fishing.
